This beach hotel is 1.7 mi (2.7 km) from Frank Brown Park and 10.3 mi (16.6 km) from St. With a stay at Ramada by Wyndham Panama City Beach / Beachfront in Panama City Beach, you'll be on the beach, just a 1-minute walk from Panama City Beaches and 13 minutes by foot from Pier Park. I hope someone doesn’t come in and “update it” beyond its historic roots. Would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend to folks who would appreciate the vibe. In short: I found it to be a fun place, clean, comfortable, had all the amenities we needed and was a good value. The biggest difference from that era: The mix of guests is delightfully diverse. This is a step back to mid century US vacation heyday. Remember, one person’s “dated” is another person’s time-travel fun. It is not fancy, and if you want modern, this is not it. There are ice machines on the east side of each level. ![]() If you need help, tell staff in advance, and they will put you on the parking lot level so you can drive to your door. Now, for why this place isn’t for everybody: building design is vintage, no-nonsense concrete and brick. They are even patient when a dozen children (age 10 or so and under) from lots of different families pile into the bar chairs and ask for glasses of water that are served with a smile and as if those soaking wet kids are the most important guests they have. Plenty of towels available for the pool chairs. Lots of people just seemed to picnic by the pool or sun deck, and had drinks at pool bar. There are steps to the beach, and you can get umbrella and chairs set up down there. A huge checkers and chess board was fun for the kids to clown around with. Teenagers took over at night and had a great time. Lots of families, retirees and young adults. Refrigerator was larger than the standard hotel mini-fridge and can hold quite a bit of food. The room was large (especially by modern standards), bed comfy and balcony overlooked pool and the Gulf. I have stayed in $500/night hotels on NYC’s prime areas and not had staff this attentive and friendly. Friendly, attentive staff is a hallmark of this place. Free coffee in the check in area and the absolutely nicest front desk staff you will ever meet. The “front desk” is in a round building separate from the motel - the way they used to be when folks hit the road for long vacations and drove up to their room area. From the parking lot, this is straight out of a movie set from mid century America. This would be OG Panama City Beach, folks. To start, this motel is a step back in time. Wonderful stay - depending on what the guest is looking for. We tried looking for another hotel/motel in the area but all were booked up. Called Wyndham Customer Care while there and tried to get this reservation cancelled but I couldn't since I had already signed in. I'm also going to file a complaint with the local Better Business Bureau. Wish there was a place on here to upload them. Pictures were taken and I have filed a complaint with Wyndham. The room had been repainted but it looked as though a child had painted it. The electrical outlet that the wall A/C was plugged into was not in the wall but laying on the floor without a wall plated attached to it. The furniture was in terrible shape and some of it should of been thrown out. The accessories in the room including the lamps and the luggage rack were rusty. The outside of the hotel had paint peeling off of it. The ice machines on each floor were broken and the safety railing on each floor were rusty and needing paint. The staff on this particular day had no ID badges and were very rude not to just me but other customers. The outside appearance of the hotel is terrible.
